Indian national Anthem: composed originally in Bengali by Rabindranath Tagore, was adopted in its Hindi version by the Constituent Assembly as the National Anthem of India on 24 January 1950. First performed in 1911, The musical score of the anthem was also created by Tagore. A formal rendition of the national anthem takes fifty two seconds. A shortened version consisting only the first and last lines (and taking about 20 seconds to play) is also staged occasionally. It was first sung 27 December 1911 at the Calcutta session of the Indian National Congress. The complete song consists of five stanzas. The lyrics were rendered into English by Tagore himself.
